Saint Anne

About Painting

Drawing from Catholic tradition, I wanted to reflect on the period Mary spent under the care of her parents before her consecration to God. The use of vivid and complementary colors was a deliberate choice to breathe life into the narrative and to visually express the love, warmth, and connection that exists between a mother and her child.

The red shawl draped over Mary represents the enveloping love and protection of Saint Anne, contrasting with the verdant green that signifies growth and the nurturing environment of her home. In their expressions, there is a gentle interplay of curiosity and wisdom, innocence and guardianship.

This artwork is my humble attempt to capture a universally understood emotion of parental care in a moment that is deeply rooted in a particular spiritual story. St. Anne and Mary, pray for us.
